Chasing Pink Tats Tour: Fly Fridays with Jonny Klemchuk
A good friend came to town and we did how Aspen does: ski, apres, party, sleep...repeat. Jonny Klemchuk (@JonnyKlemchuck) was only in town for a couple of days, so we took advantage of sunny skies and warm temps to have a lil costume fun on the hill. Reprising his original role as Buddy the Elf, Jonny found himself experiencing the allure of Aspen's frontside and even worked his way through the...
MSNBC on ‘Extreme Skiing’
There has been a rash of deaths recently, and MSNBC took on the subject in a recent airing. I'm not so sure I appreciate the term 'Death Zone', as it will only fuel the misinformation that always seems to make its way to the mainstream public. Interesting watch though: Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Gettin Deeeeep in Aspen
Winter has finally arrived with a series of small storms that have left Aspen with fantastic conditions.  Spent a few runs the other morning with the AspenSnowmass #ContentCrew and here are some quick shots from those fluffy laps.  (Photos by Jeremy Swanson)
Powder Panic
Resorts and ski areas across the country have experienced an interesting phenomenon this season: powder panic.  Now, don't get me wrong, skiers and snowboarders have always had that mob-mentality, freshies-frenzy when it comes to new snow and chairlift lines.  People have been known to shove, push, pole and also to be shoved, pushed, poled in the mess that is the rush for first chair and tha...
The Bitch is Back
La Nina has been a cold nasty lady this winter...well, at least for the shredheads in B.C burrowing through their streets en route to the snow encrusted mountaintops. We in Aspen have had it lucky.  We haven't had the slightest issue with parking in town or with having to decide if the furnace room or the fireplace is the best way to dry your ski gear. Yep, instead of shred outfit maintenance p...

Mt. Sopris October 7th, 2008

Fall is an interesting time of year for the skiers and snowboarders of the world. The snow has disappeared from most of the nearby peaks, save for a few glaciers scattered throughout the landscape. For the most part, the mountain bike rules the Fall season, however there is a strong stirring of sentiment as new snow reports drop in from ski resorts across the world.

October is especially tough for the snow deprived, as daily webcam images of resorts such as Loveland and Arapahoe Basin show the snow-making guns fired up and blowing the base layer for what are unaffectionately known as "white ribbons of death." The ‘maggots’ over at the TGR message boards are all giddy and giggling like schoolgirls as they rant and rave about all things snow-riding. So I bring you, the snow-starved skier, TGR Hot Threads! to help stave off your pre-season jitters.

One particular thread has originated recently from an alias known as Alto. Appropriately titled Fantasy Freeride Venues , it is sure a hot topic amongst the forum participants. Maggots from across the world are each posting a picture of a peak or skiing zone that they would love to rip in front of a set of judges, some spectators and ultimately for final glory on film.
