Friends of the TatsVan: Drew Tabke wins 2nd Backcountry.com Sickbird Buckle!
Drew Tabke is another friend of the TatsVan.  He is currently down in South America destroying freeskiing comps and bagging peaks after all-night, wine-fueled parties.  Recently, Drew became the third ever freeskier to win a second Backcountry.com Sickbird belt buckle for his impressive skiing in Las Lenas, Argentina. http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg842/scaled.php?tn=0&server=842&filename=4dff.j...
Snowmass, again.
My friend Ed took this shot on my DROID.  Epic night in Snowmass Village.
Video: LINO’, an Animated Surf Flick
Check this video out...I've watched it ten times already. The music is super mellow, vibing well with the impressive stop-motion animation that makes those little Playmobil figurines look like they're just shredding some epic waves. Lino', made by Karim Rejeb of KarimRejeb-SurfArt.com, is a masterpiece fit for anyone who has played with plastic toys.  His vision of the world of surfing, a...
Friends of the TatsVan: Scott McBrayer – Bull Rider
Scott McBrayer, better known on the Freeskiing World Tour as McSlayer, just rode his third bull at the Carbondale Thursday night rodeo.  Known for tossing frontflips to a stomped landing off of 40 foot cliffs, it's his background as a hunting guide and cowboy that makes Scott really stand out.  He didn't make eight seconds (the minimum time for a score) in this ride, but as any cowpoke knows...
Mobile Lifestyle: The Mobile Office
Come the latter half of the summer, most of my days are spent shuttle driving for Blazing Adventures as the water on wild rivers gets lower and lower, and operations shift to other, more dam-controlled rivers.  With the local trips on the Roaring Fork River on the wane, thanks in part to a rapidly melting snowpack and only a few bursts of precipitation since Memorial Day, we have started buss...

Ski Bum Gear: Reef Sushi Roll Sandal

Trust me, I know things.

Trust me, I know things.

Reef Sushi Roll Sandal

Reef Sushi Roll Sandal

I just spent a week touring the newest Warren Miller flick around to movie venues across Oregon. I lugged boxes and carts carrying everything from $40,000 projectors to a giant, air-filled Yeti from Utah.

And I’ve done it all in my new Reef Sushi Roll Sandals. These kicks are so sweet I just can’t stop wearing them!

The others in the road crew think I’m crazy to wear sandals while loading up all the heavy equipment, but I just tell ‘em, “Sandals to ski boots, there’s nothing else!

With a shake of their heads, I just move on and get to setting up the movie screen for our gig. And all of this is done in Samurai style with these sushi-inspired sandals. Seriously, they have bamboo mat soles with feaux sushi rolls blinging up the sides; point in case, chicks dig ‘em.

It’s either that or this warrior ‘stache I’ve been sportin’. No…probably just the sandal steeze.

Patagonia Half Mass Bag
Patagonia Half Mass Bag

Ever wonder how I manage to stay connected to the internet while Im on the road? Its all because of my Patagonia Half Mass laptop bag.

I carry so much equipment with me: laptop, external hard drive, helmet cam & mount, DC/AC power inverter for the car, etc. So its nice to be able to stow it all in a durable bag with clean design.

If you wanna be a ski bum, get this bag.

ScottUSA Team Edition Poles

Hey Guys! It’s Ski Bum Gear time again and I have a great suggestion for you this week. They’re the ScottUSA Team Edition poles and as you can see, the colors will take you way back to when zinc covered skiers’ noses and New Coke was the hotness!

These poles have survived multiple seasons of impact heavy skiing by yours truly. I have found it near impossible to bend, bash or break these things (check out this video) if you can believe it.

If you want your own pair of ScottUSA Team Issue poles, click the Goat logo below. Happy Shopping!
